Stop the Candy Shop!

Did you know that Atlanta, Ga is in the top three leading cities in the United States for sexual exploitation of children? It is reported that an average of 500 girls per month are exploited in the city of Atlanta alone. An estimated amount of 8,000 men per month participate in sexual exploitation of minors.

This morning our Church showed us a 30 min. documentary made by Brandon McCormick. The film does an amazing job at raising awareness to such a grim issue. Here is a preview..

There are ways that you can help the cause. Stopthecandyshop.com and streetgrace.org are two websites that are full of information on how you, your church, and your community around you can get involved to stop "the candy shop"..

Gotta love these warm February days!

I was super bummed this morning when I woke up to the sound of pouring rain. Thankfully, by this afternoon the weather warmed up to the 70s and the skies turned into a beautiful blue! It was Alans first Friday off on his new schedule so we took the kiddos to the park..here are some pics of Ansleigh...

..a date with Tucker Chase..

It is 8:30ish and I.am.tired. Started out with school this morning at 10 (is this quarter done yet?), then came home and cleaned the house, made dinner for Alan and lunch for the kiddos, packed Ansies stuff for Nana's house, put the kiddos down for their naps, got Ansie up when Nana arrived to pick her up, did A&P II homework, got Chase up and ready for our mommy-son date..

Took Chasey to Brusters for some ice-cream..

melted ice-cream= the boo-boo lip :(

Then we made our way to the park..

edited:: I want to write {type} this down so that one day I'll look back and laugh :) Chase and I were at the park today when a little boy (who was probably 5 or 6)approached Chase and asked him if he wanted to go to his house. Chase, with the most serious and puzzled expression said, "No fank you, I already have a house." Sweet boy =)

Today has been a busy, but a good day. God has blessed me beyond measure! I am so thankful for my sweet, healthy kids. I am so thankful to have a mother-in-law who loves her grandchildren and loves to spend time with them. I am thankful for a husband who works hard so that I can go to school to finish my education..

On a side note: Alan will be moving to 3rd shift next week! This is good news because it will mean that the kids and I will be able to see more of him! God is good!

Weekend in the woods

I am LOVING this beautiful weather! This weekend was perfect for some outdoor family time. We both love to take the kiddos outdoors on the weekends. We usually end up going to a state park and hiking or having a picnic somewhere. But this weekend Alan and I decided to take the kiddos to his families land for some exploring in the woods. Alan had came upon an old well (and possibly an old homestead) on the land a few weeks ago and I wanted to see it. Plus, we thought it would be fun for the kids to have a picnic and see the land that has been in my husbands family for many generations.

After leaving the land, we took the kids to see Alan's grandmother- Grandma. She is such a precious lady! I want to be just like her when I grow up =) To me, she is the epitome of a Godly woman. She is the most selfless, loving, most generous woman that I know! Ansleigh and Chase (and Alan and I!) love going to her house because she always has homemade cupcakes and cookies ready and awaitin'..love her!
We spent a few hours at her house rummaging through trash bags of old toys that were Alan's and his cousins when they were little. The kids had a blast going through them (and so did Alan!)..

New Camera!

Alan bought me a new camera :) Here are a few pics from this weekend..will upload more later!

Days like these..

I really wish that my camera was working (it finally died after being repeatedly dropped, thrown across the room by a then 2 year old, and getting apple juice poured on by my 1 year old). We are outside and the weather is perfect! Ansleigh is following her Bubba around the yard eating a purple popsicle (and wearing it too! Her purple face is priceless). Tucker Chase is being the sweet big brother and showing her the ins and outs of his wooden swing set.And of course, Ansleigh is attempting to do everything that her brother does. Including spitting in the grass and climbing the monkey bars (yikes!)...and trying to go potty outside just like her older brother.. :)It warms my heart to see them playing and interacting so well with one another. I cant wait for spring/summer so that we can have more of days like these...
